I have been in love with this character since February of 2010. This next February’ll be my third year of absolutely adoring his personality and behavior. He reminds me quite a bit of myself.
He lives in Germany’s house, the basement part was never confirmed, but I get the feeling he spends a lot of time blogging and writing his journals so it doesn’t matter anyway.
He’s my favourite character simply because, he is an absolute goofball in canon. He does honestly think he’s awesome, even if he does get lonely. He’s still around in modern times and he does ridiculous stuff every year. Himaruya has completely switched around with him. He was once blonde haired and blue eyed and back then was indeed when Himaruya stated he was retired and would fade and when he drew that little sketch of Germany sitting by a cross…
So obviously it seems he WAS initially intended to be dead (So what changed?) I honestly think Hima not only realized the popularity of the character but sort of fell in love with him himself. Because recently there’ve been hints that Prussia isn’t going anywhere at all. Especially the notes about him having to go work at Russia’s doing poor jobs after WW2. (Why would he have to do that if Prussia was just dissolved and he didn’t represent anything anymore?) I guess he just changed around his status so he could stick around and hell, I have no problems with that.
He’s a lot more relatable than most people take him for at first. He does work, he blogs, he likes to do funny things in his spare time.. He got Germany to dress up in a maid outfit while he took rabbit ears and an apron and dragged him out on one April Fool’s after they were sent the outfits. To him, it would be a cool thing to do, and I don’t think that’s so different from a lot of us. Dressing in costume and taking goofy pictures IS fun.
He is a hard worker and he organizes things. This is a canon fact I think a lot of people just aren’t aware of. Even if he is a bit showy, he likes to do things in style And he is a bit of a bragger but hey, he isn’t extremely overbearing with it nor is it all he does. He likes cute things, according to Hima’s facts about him he’s the youngest of the bad touch trio, he likes taking pictures, he had a swimming contest with America and admitted he lost, he’s kind of scared of Russia but feels fine since ‘his brother is so much stronger now’. HE’S CUTE OKAY? HE IS A FUCKING CUTE AWESOME GUY WHO LOVES HIS BROTHER, THINKS ITALY IS ADORABLE, LIKES MAPLE SYRUP BECAUSE CANADA BROUGHT HIM SOME ONCE, IS ACTUALLY FRIENDS WITH FRANCIS AND ANTONIO BECAUSE THEY GOT OVER THEIR HISTORY AS PEOPLE, LIKES TO DRINK AND HAVE FUN, AND IS BY NO MEANS A COMPLETE DOUCHEBAG.
I HATE what they did to him in the English dub okay? This is a guy who prayed to God for forgiveness after groping Hungary’s chest because he realized ‘he’ was actually a she. He gave her his robe…thing, to cover herself when she was hurt. He goes around cleaning people’s houses to get a little admiration (canon again). He somewhat teases but he never says things that are outright cruel. He picked up a playboy magazine while infiltrating America’s army and said basically “wow they have this kind of stuff?!” He’s a dork! He is a proud, cute loving, blogging, self confident, teasing, lonely, organized, showy, silly, wonderful individual. This is NOT a complete asshole OKAY? He’s not much of a pervert, he’s not an abuser, he’s not a douchebag, so quit it.
I love him for a REASON and it isn’t me just being an ignorant fangirl and loving him because he’s attractive or anything. I love him on a deep level for his characterization. I can understand when people don’t like the fandom’s interpretation, but when you say you just don’t like him, at all, yes I am honestly confused and would love to hear why.
I am a Prussia fan, and I think I probably always will be.
